Permit Phasing Plan - Update

Our Permit Phasing Plan is moving full speed ahead, and we’re excited to share where we are and what’s next.

Phase One – Complete
The first step was to repark every new zone at a 1:1 ratio, and we’ve successfully wrapped this up. This crucial step gave us clear insight into how many staff, residents, and commuters are using each lot. This data matters—residential spaces rarely turn over during the day, while staff and commuter spaces open up multiple times, which means higher permit ratios are possible for those zones.

Phase Two – In Progress
We’ve now started inviting people from the waiting list into zones that are primarily commuter or staff parking. Official waiting list emails have been sent to your Mississippi State email address—and each invitation is time-sensitive with an expiration date. If you’re on a waiting list, check your email and follow the instructions promptly to claim your permit.
We’ll run one more waiting list process Monday morning, marking the final step in Phase Two.

Phase Three – Coming Soon
When the semester begins, we’ll shift into Phase Three: conducting multiple lot observations throughout each class day. Once we establish an average number of open spaces in each zone, we’ll begin inviting more people from the waiting list. This phase will continue throughout the academic year, ensuring we make the most of every available space.
