Americans with Disabilities Act Compliance

Persons with Annual Permits

For individuals with annual permits, before parking in spaces that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), your state-issued handicap placard or plate must be registered with MSU Transportation. You may register your placard via your parking portal at myparking.msstate.edu or at our Customer Service Desk in the Roberts Building.

With your annual permit and registered placard or plate, the following rules apply:

  • If you have a Commuter permit, you may park in the ADA or regular spaces in any Commuter zone (North, South, East, West) or in any of lots marked Maroon zone.
  • If you have a Resident permit, you may park in the ADA or regular spaces in any Resident zone (North or South) or in any of the lots marked Maroon zone.
  • If you have a Staff permit, you may park in the ADA or regular spaces in any Staff or Commuter (North, South, East, West) zone or in any of the lots marked Maroon zone.

There are Maroon zone ADA parking lots that are open to any permit located at the following locations:

  • On Walker Road, in front of the Chapel of Memories
  • Behind Montgomery Hall
  • Between Bowen and Patterson Halls
  • Off of Moseley Road, between the IED Building and Eckies Pond
  • Between the Roberts Building and Middleton Hall

ADA spaces in other lots are only open to those permit types. Vehicles parked in a metered or timed lot must follow the metered and timed lot details.

Persons with Daily Permits

For individuals with daily permits, your state-issued handicap placard or plate must be properly displayed and current. Your placard is only valid in the purchased daily permit zone. Vehicles parked in a metered or timed lot must follow the metered and timed lot details.

In the event a disability-related accommodation is needed to obtain access to another zone, please contact the Transportation office at 662-325-3526. Requests for parking accommodations are considered on a case-by-case basis, with consideration given to the nature of an individual’s impairment and the availability of suitable parking spaces.
